Professional Standards-Based Methodology
My work as an expert witness is grounded in meticulous analysis, evidence-based methodology, and adherence to recognized professional standards. Each case is reviewed independently by evaluating each officer’s actions against established manuals and accepted principles. In doing so, I embrace the philosophy of Nietzsche: “The truth doesn’t mind being questioned.” The truth is robust; it can withstand scrutiny, cross-examination, and challenge. My approach aligns with a long tradition of disciplined inquiry: Plato taught that truth exists independent of opinion, Aristotle emphasized reasoning grounded in observable reality, and Augustine reminded us that truth is discovered, not created. My role is to analyze the facts and procedures without bias, to identify what the evidence supports, and to present opinions that are objective, precise, and credible. By combining rigorous standards, careful attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to truth, I provide expert analyses that attorneys, courts, and clients can rely on with confidence.
Decades of Expert Insight
With over 25 years in law enforcement — including 15 years as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) instructor and 10 years as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) instructor — I have been involved in hundreds of impaired driving investigations and drug influence evaluations and classifications. I have seen firsthand the complexities and challenges of these cases. Even experienced officers can struggle with procedural inconsistencies, and critical indicators are sometimes overlooked or misinterpreted.
My guiding principle comes from Proverbs 16:3: ‘Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.’ Each review I conduct is performed through the lens of an in-depth understanding of both the theoretical foundations and their practical application, with care, diligence, and integrity, ensuring findings that are accurate, objective, and reliable. Combining decades of practical experience and teaching the theoretical aspects of professional standards, I provide expert analyses that can be relied upon with confidence throughout court proceedings.
